Dear Janet,
My partner Russ and I returned earlier today from the Mendocino County Pride Picnic. We wore our new shirts, “What a Difference a Gay Makes.” It was such fun for us as many, many people stopped us to admire and read our shirts. Imagine the delight I had in telling them of you in San Diego. One man liked it a lot, and told us his story of coming out to his mother when they were living in Germany a long time ago. He said that he named quite a number of the persons listed on the shirt, saying to her that it was not awful to be gay, as he was in very good company. Thank you again for creating them and for the delightful conversation we had about the shirts and your work as a play-write.
